Eagles acquire Pro Bowl OT Peters from Bills
The Philadelphia Eagles have officially acquired two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters from the Buffalo Bills.
In exchange for Peters, the Eagles will give the Bills a trio of draft picks: the 28th overall selection in 2009, a fourth-round selection in 2009 (121st overall) and a late-round pick in 2010. The two-time Pro Bowl tackle signed a six-year contract Friday night. The Eagles will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. (et) on Saturday. Peters is now reunited with former college teammate Shawn Andrews, as both starred for Arkansas. But while Andrews served as the Razorbacks' left tackle, Peters was only a tight end. Peters went undrafted in 2004, but the Bills added him to their practice squad and eventually converted him into an offensive lineman, which proved to be a successful transition. The 27-year-old immediately became a premier left tackle in the NFL, serving as the Bills' primary starter at the position for the last four seasons. He started only 13 games last season, as he was embroiled in a contract dispute throughout training camp and into the season. For his career, he has appeared in 65 games, making 55 starts. He had two years remaining on his five-year contract.
